My artistic journey has been about processing the transitions of getting older — from seeking money to seeking what money cannot buy; from the corporate world to the natural world; from designing things to making things by hand; from the external to the internal.
After 40 years in graphic design, my automatic impulse is to create clean, orderly graphic images. But what thrills me is fresh, free flowing art. Merging photo collage with intuitive freeform painting allows me to integrate both approaches, and to enjoy observing the tussle within myself along the way.
My preferred subject matter is the dichotomy between humans and nature. Again, exploring the contrast between planned order versus organic free flow — manufacture versus nature.
Art helps me to process all this and to find balance.
